Tailor Birds – Wide Awake I See The Storm

"Tailor Birds – Wide Awake I See The Storm"

Currently touring Europe, Tailor Birds release their second album with an Aussie tour to follow soon! This new album is both a stripped down, minimal acoustic feel, through to a bigger more intense electronic sound, reflecting both light and dark, the full range of the Tailor Birds experience. Recorded in both Holland and Australia, in various studios, Sophie Kinston finds each song have a specific place and purpose on the new record. The album features some incredible musicians from Europe and Australia, and of course Sophie’s electric violin – the glue that ties it all together.

Slow Club (UK) – One Day All of This Won’t Matter Anymore

"Slow Club (UK) – One Day All of This Won’t Matter Anymore"

Slow Club’s Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor now release their fourth studio album “One Day All Of This Won’t Matter Anymore,” With help from producer Matthew E. White, the master of Southern-gothic folk, and his in-house band at Richmond’s Spacebomb Studios, they’ve created the consistency and tone the album required. Almost every track was played live in the studio, allowing the long-established session band’s natural chemistry to augment Charles’ and Rebecca’s. “One Day…” contains some of the best melodies they’ve yet created. The duo’s knack for writing hooks and melody has, if anything, become stronger over the last ten years of their career.

Alexi Musnitsky – Zia

"Alexi Musnitsky – Zia"
Alexi Musnitsky (20) is French and American, born in New Mexico and living most of his life in Paris, France. He has been playing piano since the age of 4, trained as a classical pianist in the Russian style by Marina Ravor and won a first prize at the Flame international piano competition. Playing for others started as a young child in Paris, Catalonia and Amsterdam.
His music has been called expressive, bringing out emotion and sensitivity. 4-time Grammy winner Eugene Friesen recorded with Alexi in his album “Zia” produced by Will Ackerman at Imaginary Roads.
The music of Zia will touch your soul and warm your heart. Let your ears listen and your spirit unfold, the music will lead the way. It most certainly worked that way for me while taking this in.
Keith “MuzikMan” Hannaleck – New Age Music Review

Eloquently restrained and never bombastic in its approach, Zia offers an impressive level of musical maturity and depth for this young talent. Demonstrating a piano playing style that is fluid and supple, Zia is not to be missed by those who particularly enjoy elegant piano music wrapped in wholesome beauty.

Chris Boscole – Skipping On Daisies

"Chris Boscole – Skipping On Daisies"

‘Skipping On Daisies’ is composed of piano solos that are happy, lyrical, magical, and dreaming, reminiscent of new age and neoclassical mysticism. Thirty years after his first release of ‘Shimmer Solo Piano’ in 1986, ‘Skipping On Daisies’ was performed on a 9′ Steinway Concert Grand and has a warm, spacious sound that soothes the soul and relaxes the mind.
Boscole is a versatile pianist and composer in the neoclassical, new age, jazz, folk, and contemporary instrumental genres. He explores creative relationships between nature, photography, and music through videos and multi-media concerts. Classically trained, Boscole has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Washington and a Master of Music in Studio Music and Jazz from the Univers ity of Miami, Florida. A Pacific Northwest native, he’s been sailing Hawaii over the past several years and now makes those islands his home.

Popular in radio, his last five solo piano releases have all charted in the top 10 at Zone Music Reporter: A New Age of Classical Piano, Floating on a Melody, Inner Voy ages, Presents of Angels, and O Christmas Tree.

The Posies – Solid States

"The Posies – Solid States"

Rock ‘n’ roll has rarely been as smart, soulful or satisfying than it has in the hands of The Posies. During an on/off career that’s stretched across four decades, the Seattle-rooted outfit, led by musical polymaths Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, have shaped and re-shaped their muse, creating one of the more compelling catalogues in modern pop.

With SOLID STATES, their 8th album, the Posies mark dramatic changes in the lives, the music, the evolution of the band.

When the Posies long time drummer, Darius, died suddenly and unexpectedly last year, Posies founding members Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow were devastated. Hard as it was to continue without such a close friend and great musician, the moment called for a reinvention. For now… the idea of the band getting into a room and banging out the music, garage band style, was over. The ideas coming from Jon and Ken were fragile and the moods contemplative. Death, divorce, loss. Even the joys of life are fleeting enough as to be treated with care and respect.

Of course, the Posies still retain their legendary melodic abilities, their trademark vocal harmonies and their lyrical agility. The band has always been exploring, growing. The multiyear gaps between albums are typically spent in countless other projects that bring new skills, sounds, experiences and people to the picture. The band will present the album live in a new format, incorporating laptop elements along with guitars, keyboards and drums. As artists, the band feels it’s their duty to take risks and explore.

Album to be released May 6th!

Old Man Luedecke – Domestic Eccentric

"Old Man Luedecke – Domestic Eccentric"

From the music rich maritime province of Nova Scotia on the East coast a banjo songster like Old Man Luedecke is a rare type of musician. A songwriting one of such hopeful goodness, rarer still. In the tradition of solo banjo men and women of days gone by like Doc Boggs, Old Man Luedecke sings his songs accompanied only by his loving five string, foot stomps and the occasional yodel.

Chris Luedecke lives in Halifax and works all over the huge country of Canada, from the Yukon to Vancouver. His jaunty frailing style banjo playing lending uplifting buoyancy to sometimes quite melancholy and highly unique lyrical ideas, and it slotted beautifully into a young market hungry for new growth from old roots. His music has received wide acclaim across the genres in Canada, from Feist to Buck 65 who co-opted him to play banjo on one of his most famous early tracks ‘Indestructible Sam’. His songs are melodic gems blending old time sensibilities with an unusual vision and poetic sense. His music belies someone more than slightly ill at ease with modern life and he performs with a gentle and endearing charisma, stories littered with a canny oblique humour; he’s a sly entertainer with almost a hint of contemporary vaudeville about him and he plays a mean claw hammer banjo clearly derivative of the old time and Appalachia.
