2018 saw Australian born artist Daxton Monaghan release his new album “In Verses,” Daxton’s expressive writing and complete artistry shines on this album. “In Verses” starts off with a coulorful up-tempo song titled “I Don’t Mind” with high falsetto, reminiscent of artists such as Marvin Gay or Eagles of Death Metal. As the album preogresses further in you will notice some of the songs have a more psychedelic grungy approach revealing hidden ambient sounds. Overall, there is a blues meets alternative rock meets Spanish guitar feel that flows throughout the album.
Forty years after Windham Hill became a catalyst for the global musical phenomenon, its bountiful legacy of best-selling solo works (George Winston, Liz Story, Alex DeGrassi, Michael Hedges) and Grammy-winning ensembles (Shadowfax) – extends into a truly new age with FLOW – a new four-piece ensemble comprised of Windham Hill founder and New Age Grammy-winning guitarist Will Ackerman, and three of today’s most acclaimed independent award-winning artists, Australian pianist Fiona Joy Hawkins , acoustic guitarist Lawrence Blatt and flugelhorn master Jeff Oster.
A fine album of easy listening blues rock that harkens back to the greats of the 70’s as well as maintaining a modern flavour.
Having just played Party In The Paddock the band are set for big things. The Sheyana Band are a collective of rock-solid rhythms, impassioned vocals and tightly packaged toe-tapping grooves steeped in blues and storytelling.

Favourites at Tamworth and other Festivals we are proud to have this great new album to send to cafes.
It’s more than a band, its a show… With ATTITUDE!
THE MEZCALTONES are inspired by cool tunes from Tito and Tarantula, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Los Lobos, Santana and other artists from this genre. The attitude of those famous Tarantino/ Robert Rodrigues flicks, Cowboy movies and B grade low budget 1960’s teen movies.
Featuring a Tex Mex, 60’s, cowboy rockabilly surf guitar style of twang and incorporating Mimi’s spellbinding dance moves, they are hard to pigeonhole. They have performed at the Sydney Winterfest BLUES festival, four Tamworth COUNTRY music festivals and the Sydney BLUES & ROOTS festival. Their debut CD was voted #6 in the Top Ten CDs of 2016 by 100% ROCK magazine. They have been described by some as Mexican Hillbilly surf music, Alt country, Cowboy Blues Brothers, cowpunk, Surferbilly and more… one thing everyone does agree upon is THE MEZCALTONES are highly entertaining!
Soundslikecafe is proud to feature this fine album from the beautiful Seven Rivers area of Northern NSW
It’s been two fertile years for Yhan Leal since he released his last recording. Quietly determined, Leal has come from busking nightly outside Bellingen’s local supermarket, to developing a career as a bona fide touring and recording artist.
Leal’s new album, the eponymous Yhan Leal, was recorded between Leal’s home in Bellingen and in various Sydney studios with Producer Ryan Miller. The new full length album contains all the ethereal dreaminess, melodic guitars and haunting harmonies that are the halmark of Yhan’s hypnotic style, but also takes a new direction with the augmentation of a full band and production on several tracks. Themes of love, loss and grief, travel, peace and freedom, are explored with a maturity and honesty, that has developed with Leal’s own journey of genuine musical evolution.
The eagerly awaited new single from Nick De La Hoyde is finally here.
Having had great response from Nick’s previous work on soundslikecafe we are sure this one will be even stronger.
Sydney, Australia based singer/songwriter/rapper Nick de la Hoyde began expressing himself through music when he was 16 while pursuing a professional, football career in Barcelona. Music quickly became a driving force in Nick’s life and through that creative lens, he began to express his deeply personal thoughts of being a determined teenager chasing his dreams in a foreign land. This early creativity eventually won out and brought him back to Australia to pursue being an artist full-time. Growing up in a multi-cultural home with a Syrian mother and British father, Nick was exposed to many global influences which he weaved into his music melding his love of hip hop and R&B with electronic alt/dance beats together with introspective lyrics that chronicled a young, musician’s journey to adulthood overcoming life and artistic challenges along the path. Nick and his long-time producer/collaborator/older brother Joseph (ZUZU) de la Hoyde, have crafted a sound that is simultaneously intimate, expansive and engaging. Now at 23, Nick has penned confessional, real life anthems such as Love Takes Time, Thinking Bout You, Never Gonna Beg For It, By My Side and Changing that oscillate between moody, textured R&B and anthemic synth laden future-pop moments combined with a lyrical earnestness that speaks directly to today’s younger generation.Nick has quickly made a name for himself, cultivating a large and dedicated on-line following and becoming a powerful voice for youth empowerment and positivity.
HOLD ME CLOSE
Nick’s newest installment Hold Me Close is his brightest yet. The track is filled with energy, from its pulsing trop vibes to the swooning vocal melodies – it has enough to lift into exultation and create a dance party of any situation. The single marks the evolution of Nick’s musical style into one that is thoughtful of both the senses and the mind, continuing the sense of free-spiritedness that has come to define his music.
