Bob Yonker Releases Album ‘Dreams of Light’

"Bob Yonker Releases Album ‘Dreams of Light’"

Dreams of Light is a collection of improvisational solo piano compositions by Bob Yonker, recorded entirely in the moment.

Guided by intention and presence, each piece was performed as it emerged—untouched by prewritten notes or rigid structure.

The result is an album that offers listeners a gentle sanctuary of sound, inviting stillness, reflection, and emotional renewal.

Deeply contemplative and spiritually uplifting, Dreams of Light serves as a companion for meditation, quiet moments, and healing experiences.

Bob Yonker creates solo piano music with the intention of calming the mind, soothing the soul, and healing the planet—one note at a time.

Growing up in the Northeast, Bob’s earliest musical memories are of his mother singing and playing piano in their home. Fascinated by the instrument and the sounds it produced, he began experimenting on his own, teaching himself simple songs by the age of four. At six, he took lessons for a year, though it soon became clear that he was playing entirely by ear rather than reading music. His teacher famously discovered this after Bob performed his recital piece flawlessly—but in the wrong key. Although he later learned to read music, Bob has always felt most at home expressing himself through his own style and original compositions.

After being told by colleges that his unconventional approach did not align with traditional classical training, Bob chose a different path. He earned a degree in Agricultural Science from Penn State and spent many years working to help the environment. During this time, he also worked second jobs in group homes for individuals with developmental challenges—work he found deeply meaningful—and served as the organist for various churches where he lived.

In the 1990s, while still working full-time, Bob returned to school and earned a triple degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood Education. This led to a new chapter as a special needs teacher, a role he embraced and enjoyed for 15 years. He and many of his teaching colleagues used his music in the classroom and found that the students experienced increased calm, focus, concentration, and productivity.

Re-energized and creatively inspired by his teaching career, Bob eventually returned to his first love—music. He has since composed eleven albums of contemplative, contemporary, and meditative solo piano music, along with a Christmas album. His latest release, Dreams of Light, is an improvisational album recorded entirely in the moment at the studio. As with all of Bob’s music, each piece is created with the intention of bringing calm, joy, and healing to the listener.

He has also been commissioned by individuals to “channel” and record personalized piano pieces uniquely attuned to their frequency with the listeners reporting beautiful emotional releases and healings. (Spirit Songs)

Bob Yonker Releases Album ‘Reminiscence’

"Bob Yonker Releases Album ‘Reminiscence’"

The songs on this album were entirely composed in the moment during the recording session. It is always my intent to just allow the musical tones and energy of the Universe to flow through to create an album that will “speak” to the listeners in whatever way is needed.

At the age of 4, Yonker began piano lessons, but after a year, his teacher realized that Bob was playing by ear and not reading the notes. Bob had had his sister play the song for him and Bob would then learn it by listening, and was “found out” after playing his piece for a recital in the wrong key. He later did learn how to read, but has always been more comfortable playing his own style and his own compositions best.

Being told by colleges that his style of music was not what they were looking for without classical training, Bob decided to change career paths and received a degree in agricultural science from Penn state, and worked many years helping the environment, while working second jobs in group homes for the mentally challenged, which he enjoyed immensely, as well as being the organist for his hometown church.

In the 90’s, while still working full-time, Bob went back to school and received a triple degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood Education, which allowed him to switch career paths once again to become a special needs teacher.

Now “re-passioned” from his teaching career, Bob has returned to his first love – music – and has composed 8 albums of contemplative, contemporary, and meditative solo piano music as well as one Christmas album. His 9th, and latest, album, Reminiscence, is an improvisational album completed on the spot at the recording studio. As with all of Bob’s music, it is played with the intent to bring calm, joy and maybe even emotional healing to the listener. Bob has performed for local fans in the town where he lives and has started collaborating with other musicians to perform at local care centers.

Many pieces were inspired by Bob’s new life in Europe with his wife Karen. Bob has performed for local fans in the town where he lives and has begun working cooperatively with a local therapist in sound healing and breath sessions playing intuitively for those participating.
